Why Ancarraig

What Makes This Place Different

It's a magical combination of things: the secluded yet accessible location, the rustic and cosy design, the abundant wildlife, the utter tranquillity. Discover why guests keep coming back here for decades!

On the Great Glen Way

On the Great Glen Way

Ancarraig and its 12 acre estate sits directly on The Great Glen Way. You can step out of your door and be on one of Scotland's most celebrated long-distance trails. Walk down to Loch Ness for sunrise, explore ancient woodland that straddles the section of route all around us, or trek to Invermoriston for lunch. You're just 3 miles from Drumnadrochit and the shores of Loch Ness, and 17 from Inverness - close enough to civilisation, far enough to truly escape it.

12 Acres of Private Woodland & Lakes

12 Acres of Private Woodland & Lakes

Ancarraig sits nestled in 12 acres of woodland with its own lochans (that's Gaelic for small lakes!). Hidden trails wind through the pine, birch, juniper and gorse. Red squirrels scurry and jump among the canopies while deer graze on the lush greenery. You can lose yourself in our meandering pathways through the forest and bridges over the burns without leaving the property. It's the kind of space that lets you properly disconnect.

Dog Friendly

Ancarraig was made for dogs! They'll love the woodland setting as much as you will. Take advantage of our woodland and let them explore their Highland play park!

Year-Round Comfort

Stargazing & Northern Lights

Stargazing & Northern Lights

You'll be treated to sights of the Milky Way and some of the most dazzling stars to be found in UK skies. On clear nights, you might even catch the Northern Lights dancing above us.

Great for Kids

Great for Kids

Our playhouse with slide and mud kitchen keeps the little ones busy when they aren't running through the woods! A picnic area allows for Mum & Dad to bring along a coffee and enjoy the surroundings.

What People Say

From families to couples to solo adventurers. Here's what stuck with them.

The lodge was spotless, the views were stunning, and it was properly quiet. Red squirrels showed up every morning. We're already looking at dates to come back.

The kids spent many hours exploring the woodland trails and playing in the mud kitchen. We loved the wood burner in the evenings, so cosy. The perfect Highland escape for families.

Our dogs loved it as much as we did. Secure woodland to explore, and they even got a welcome pack. The lodge itself is beautiful - Scandinavian style but with Scottish touches.
